"10 Years Of Making A Difference In The Lives Of Seniors"

Food For Seniors Program(FFSP)........

In an effort to address senior’s most critical need such as hunger and nutrition, DFTD has developed a program to deliver free groceries to seniors once a month. Because of the one-on-one personal assistance we provide to thousands of seniors over the last 11 years, we are able to see firsthand the need seniors have for food. During our outings, many seniors are forced to decide whether to purchase lifesaving medications or nutritious food. Often seniors opt to purchase the medications and forgo the nutritious meals.

That is why we have created the “Mobile Pantry Program”. We are able to meet their need for food, as well as their transportation need to get the food. Groceries are distributed to low-income seniors residing in facilities and private residence throughout the county. Seniors are ready and waiting for their food when we arrive. These groceries are truly a life-line for seniors and others in need. Our volunteers meet us at each location and help distribute the food to the seniors.

Transportation ..........

Our volunteers take seniors to their doctor appointments, business appointments, to church, to the grocery store, drop off and pick up prescriptions, and help them with just about any other errands they need to complete.

Crisis Assistance Program........

Provides seniors with rapid assistance for food, critical prescriptions and other unforeseen crisis.

In-home Services..........

For seniors who are homebound we offer companionship, assist with completing complex documents, assist with paying bills, and other services as requested.

Let's Chat..........................

For seniors that live alone and have a lonely existence we provide them with a check in and chat phone call which gives the organization an opportunity to check on the seniors mental and physical well being.

Seniors must be at least 70 years of age and have enough mobility to get in and out of an automobile.

We try to accommodate seniors with two outings a month.  Each outing is up to 3 hours and requires at least a three business-day notice prior to the outing.

If you are interested in applying for our program, please call the office.
